How The Grouch Stole Christmas is underground hip-hop's holiday tradition — The Grouch & Eligh, of the Bay Area's Living Legends collective, take their conscious, witty lyricism on the road every December, and Denver is a standing stop. This year's Denver bill pairs them with Amp Live and special guests Brother Ali and Lyrics Born, whose commanding, reflective live presence makes this as much a lyricists' showcase as a holiday party. Cervantes' Masterpiece Ballroom, in historic Five Points, is the right room for it: intimate enough for every bar to land, big enough for a full holiday-week crowd.
