Vince Staples brings the Cry Baby Tour to the Fillmore Auditorium on Wednesday, November 11 — note the date, because he is in Detroit on the 7th. The Long Beach rapper built his reputation on dense, wry lyricism over lush, layered production, and his recent work, including the album Dark Times, is a sharpened version of exactly that: melancholy, funny and completely in command. Live, Staples is famously no-frills and high-energy — just the records, delivered at full intensity. The Fillmore's big general-admission floor suits that energy.
