Jalen Ngonda closes the guide's November run at Cervantes' Masterpiece Ballroom on Tuesday, November 24, on the Doctrine of Love Tour with Brooke Combe. Signed to Brooklyn's Daptone Records, Ngonda blends classic and contemporary soul — a rich, nuanced voice over a tight live band, built on songs like 'If You Don't Want My Love' and 'Come Around and Love Me.' His critically acclaimed debut album Come Around and Love Me turned sold-out tours on both sides of the Atlantic, and Elton John has predicted he is 'going to be a huge star.' Cervantes' low-ceilinged Five Points ballroom is exactly the kind of room where this music lands hardest.
